Date: October 28, 2023
Venue: Glen Magna Farms, Danvers, MA
Guest Count: ~130
Vibe: Thoughtful, artsy, and wildly personal
Some weddings feel like a party. Michelle & Alex’s wedding felt like a perfectly curated mixtape—each moment, each track, each tiny detail playing its part in a larger, emotionally rich masterpiece. Set against the fall foliage and historic charm of Glen Magna Farms, this celebration was all heart.
🎶 Ceremony Like a Soundtrack
This couple had taste—really good taste. Their ceremony music was straight out of an A24 film in the best way:
Groom Processional: “Suze” – Bob Dylan
Bridal Party: “Finder” – Cyrus Reynolds (starting at 0:40)
Bride Processional: “Mystery of Love” – Sufjan Stevens
Recessional: “Spring 1” – Max Richter
The golden-hour ceremony wrapped just as the sun dipped behind the trees. With readings by Spencer and Theresa, and officiating by Matthew, the tone was intimate, thoughtful, and utterly “them.”
🍷 Dinner + First Dance Moments
After a cozy cocktail hour, Michelle & Alex kicked off the reception with their first dance to “I and Love and You” by The Avett Brothers. That moment? Quiet magic. No big fanfare, no flash—just two people in love, lost in their own little world.
Later, Michelle’s dad Bob and the couple themselves gave heartfelt speeches before passing the mic to the bridal party for some hilarious (and occasionally teary) toasts.
💃 The Playlist Rules (Literally)
Michelle & Alex were very clear about their music vision:
✅ Great energy
❌ Absolutely no Mr. Brightside, Livin’ On A Prayer, Macarena, or Electric Slide.
With that in mind, the dance floor was a perfectly balanced blend of indie charm and upbeat crowd favorites. And while they let us read the room and mix live, every transition was carefully crafted to honor their taste and keep the energy flowing.
🕺 Parent Dances + Farewell
The parent dances brought even more personal touches:
👰 Michelle & her dad danced to “Just Fishin’” – Trace Adkins
🤵 Alex & his mom shared “Days Like This” – Van Morrison
Then, as the clock neared ten, the night closed out with a perfectly cheeky nod to disco royalty—“Last Dance” by Donna Summer—as guests grabbed their coats and boarded the shuttle buses.
